In this video Ian from GO Outdoors shows you the different types of gas that you can use on your family camping stove.
If you are going camping during the Spring and Summer, Ian recommends using butane gas which comes in the blue bottles, as its a less toxic gas, burns cleaner and is more efficient.
There are two brands of butane gas which are available at GO Outdoor, Calor gas and Camping Gas. If you are only planning to go camping in the UK, Ian would recommend picking Calor gas as its widely available all over the UK in garages and camp sites. Its also much more cost effective than camping gas.
But if you go to Europe, thats when Ian would go for camping gas as this is the only one which is available on the continent. So if you run out, you'll be able to find a stockiest to have it refilled.
If you go camping in the winter, Ian would recommend choosing propane because it works much better at lower temperatures - even below freezing. Which is why you will see propane cylinders outside farm houses and caravans - where it's going to be used all year round
